How did I feel making this table?

Are there any surprises?

Do I see a pattern, a recurring theme?

If I don't want to live directed by my false vows anymore, how do I want to live?

What are my false vows trying to tell me through this exercise?

Are any potential soul vows winking at me through this table?

Turn to Your Master-Teacher Companion

Another source for your big pot of possibilities is your master-teacher companion. Have you been taking notes or marking passages? If so, go back and reread them. If you've been underlining, skim through the pages you've read. Anything stand out? Any words touch you in the heart or leap off the page? Put any phrases or ideas or images that feel significant in your big pot, even if you don't know why.

Susan in Texas had a surprising encounter with a paradoxical possibility as she was reading her master-teacher companion Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore. In a chapter on the myth of Hera, Susan was surprised to read that “[j]ealousy serves the soul by pressing for limits and reflection.” That sentence sparked something, so she went back and reread the chapter several times. Then she soul wrote about it at length and shared her conclusion with me:

My need for intimacy coupled with insecurity regarding the sincerity/depth of a partner fulfilling my need has been festering all my life. Hence, I have a soul vow I never anticipated—“Accept Hera's jealousy as healing flame.” Sounds like something to release, but in fact, it's the opposite for me.
